I had a good day running around in the mud and getting dirty yesterday. Our Hammond PnP has 5 240's, 2-3 each of 740's and 760's. Oddly, the 240's were in much better shape than the 7-series of the same vintage.
I found one of the "holy grail items" when I got a 240 armrest with cup holders, and an unbroken center console (wrong color but who cares). Now I just need to find a Volvo hitch and a tan cloth driver's seat in perfect, unblemished condition with a working seat heater grid (yeah, right).
There is a 92' 245 in what must have been near perfect condition except for the missing parts...what a shame. The 90's M47 car with the LH 3.1 bits is gone.
The temptation to get a spare of everything was hard to resist. I settled on a spare AMM (they had more than one) but I am considering going back for a spare white-label ECU. I just do not know how much I want to invest in this car as it is just a gap filler for a couple of years at which point I am going to find a nicer wagon and use this one as a winter beater.
So when I opened up the front passenger door of my 1990 240 DL Sedan, I found an electric lock actuator. Curious, I did not find one of those in the driver's door when I was replacing the exterior door handle...but then I was not looking for it. I also do not remember seeing the paired relays under the dash. Did the DL's come with electric locks or is it more likely that this is a replacement door.
I was unable to resolve my front passenger window which rolls up all katywampus (sic)...it appears that the lift arms are bent and someone tried to glue the window glass back into the channel at the bottom. I ended up just locking it in the up position and removing the crank handle so no one will mess with it.
Finally a question. The receipts that came with car indicate a recharge of two cans of 134A being done in 2001. There is no sticker in the engine bay like tones I saw on the three cars in the PnP indicating it had been converted. What is the easiest way to tell if it has actually been converted? Please be specific as possible because this is one of the areas I seem to fail at miserably (Never had AC work longer than a year in a 240). AC does not kick on due to (at the least) low presure in the system.
