Ever since I picked up the car, I have been looking for a new light assembly for the hat shelf. I blew a half dozen 8 amp fuses until I realized that the toggle switch was always on, when I hit a bump the old light housing shorted out.
At the autoparts store yesterday, I cam across an LED strip. Actually, 2 one foot flexible strips with sticky on one side. I repaired the switch enough so that it would finally turn off, wired in the LED strips, glued one strip to the backside of the lowest part of the dash and the other just above the hat tray, replaced the fuse, AND now there is light!
No more worry about a knee breaking the light dome and more white light than there ever was before. Completely invisible, unless you stick your head under the dash.
I think I will keep this car for a while. If my boomerang daughter would just leave for grad school, it could become a daily driver - in the summer.
