Have a 1982 242 turbo, silver with blue cloth and an M46 transmission, that was manufactured in February 1982 and first registered in the United States May 1982. Currently 234,7xxx miles.
I bought the car in 1994 with 87K miles. Over the last fifteen years, I have replaced the wiring harness, turbocharger, clutch, exhaust system, blower motor and heater core, rebuilt the front end (rack, ball joints, tie rod ends), replaced the bushings in the rear end, and....that is about all. B21FT has good compression, about 150 psi, on all 4 cylinders and pulls well. Head gasket was replaced in 2000 but otherwise the engine is original. No issues with the M46 either.
Body is getting ratty, though. I am considering a professional (as opposed to Midas) paint job to restore the car to her former glory, along with recovering the seats and having the upholstery steam cleaned.
It hasn't been a daily driver for several years, and it will not be one again. I would just like to keep it as a clean example of a somewhat rare car.
Have toyed with adding an intercooler but, at 234K miles, this might be asking for trouble.
