So, I have close to 350,000 miles on my '86 240. I believe that the rear end is a Dana 30. I've changed the oil every 50,000 miles - probably over kill - and the differential seems perfectly fine but at 350K I wonder if I should start budgeting for a rebuild in the near future? Surely the bearings will eventually wear out. Then again, this rear end has been used in domestic trucks that put a lot more power to the ground than our 114 horsepower bricks, so maybe it will never be an issue...
Has anyone seen a Dana 30 fail in a brick?
