Great write up by Art B.,thanks.Back story,trying to start my 81 coupe,been sitting for a LONG time.Cleaned out the tank,replaced the short hose that was completely gone.Should have put that new prepump I just got,duh, but I digress.Before removing the sending unit the gas gauge worked. Now with 4 gals of new gas nothing.Also should I have power at fuse 5 for my prepump coming from the left side of the fuse panel?I did remove fuse 5 and jumped from right side to left of 7,nothing.Also with fuse in jumped 5 to 7 ,nothing but noticed a small spark/arc on 7.I guess something is working,maybe.In the trunk at the connector wire,grey wire lights dim,bad prepump,yes?What would cause the gas gauge not to work? Maybe it got "hung up' while inserting back into tank?When the sending unit was out of the car nothing was stiff or binding.I know that was the time to replace the darn pump.At least I know everything will now come apart easily.Need feedback on the gauge,spark at fuse 7 and no power on left side of 5.Thanks,
