A hint for 240 owners 200 1992

Not sure if this is known, and I hope I am giving a good hint.

I was having trouble primarily with no brake lights on my 92 wagon. With that on occasion the release at the shifter would not engage, making for a manual push through the slot.

Thanks to Art Benstein on how to hot wire the bulb sensor to get brake lights. It worked, but then I would note that after a while the brake light would stop working again, and I had to fiddle with the fuse ..bad connection.

After twisting the fuse, the brake light came back up ..AND ..the shifter started releasing again.

Initially I thought this was a fluke, but it happened again ..and as soon as I got good contact on the fuse again ..both the shifter and the brake light were good to go.

So ..if your shifter does not release look to your brake light fuse.

:)
