hi all - saw a local ad for a 1986 merc engine from a 190D - motor only has 260k km and comes with a tranny for $800 - haven't had a change to check it out yet to assess condition, do a leakdown or any other inpections - anyone do a successful swap for one of these in a RWD 240/740? i have a 90 740 wagon with 360k km with a decent body and would love the chance to swap it for a diesel motor so that i can tinker with running waste veggie oil (WVO) - from what i know the older merc diesels are excellent for this - any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)
