this just started:

92 240 wagon
no third brake light for a while now
running lights work
back up lights work
rear wiper works as does rear locking

with key off both rear brake lights go on and then off when pedal is not pressed

with engine running and brake pedal pressed both rear brake lights come on as does the bulb out dash light. when i lift my foot from the pedal the dash bulb out remains on as do both rear brake lights until the engine is turned off.

if i press the pedal with the engine running, both brake lights alight and then if i open the tailgate a foot or so both brake lights will immediately go out every time. as soon as i close the tailgate they come back on.

at no time in any of these proceedings does the third brake light come on
