Question related to "Help! My Car has gone Crazy!' post 700

Could a loss of coolant leave an airpocket in the block that caused an issue with the ECT and it to subsequently fail? I was just wondering. What is the best way to ensure that there are NO airpockets in the block when putting enging back together? Use the flush/drain plug on bottom of block and a hose, fill up from bottom upward?? Thanks
