Need new engine for '91 240 Wagon 200 1991

The dealer where I purchased my beloved Vicki Volvo ('91 240 Wagon) many years ago told me I need a new engine and wire harness. She seems to be running two or three cylinders, they weren't sure. I really don't know where to start because I can't afford the $10,000 price tag and Vicki is too special and in too good of shape otherwise to give up on her. I live in the Atlanta Georgia area and need some sound advice on where to turn.
