Hey gang, newbie posting for the first time, please bear with me.
I have a '66 122s four-door sedan with the B18 engine and dual SUs, and recently I've been having a frustrating fuel pump problem. At high RPMs, and especially when the engine has been cold, one of the brass fittings keeps working itself loose from the pump body. It's not the rubber hose, mind you—that's securely clamped to the metal tube—it's the tube itself. So gasoline gets sprayed all over the engine and eventually the engine coughs to a stop, usually on the freeway.
Is there any way to re-secure this metal-to-metal connection, or do I have to (as my mechanic suggested this morning) buy a whole new fuel pump?
Thanks for the help.
Jeff
