I have a 93 940 I got ahold of that I'm fixing up for a family member and when I got it the dash wiring harness was fried in a few spots related to the wipers due to a failed aftermarket stereo installation ( i got it at the dealer salvage auction dirt cheap) but when I got it home, it fired right up and drove OK so I decided to replace the main harness instead of using the parts to fix another brick.
Anyway. WE got the harness all swapped out and were preparred to fire it up but now for some odd reason, the crazy thing wants to try to crank the starter all on it's own when placed in neutral , even with the key off!
The harness we swapped in was in great shape and the only thing ew did different was that there were a couple of wires going to a couple of switches above the brake pedal that had been wrapped in masking tape and poorly connected ( i don't know if they were even connected at all under that tape but the ends were stripped and near each other, I did tighten up those connectiuons and put proper electric tape on them)
Only other odd thing is the shifter doesn't go into park, but it didn't do that before so I don't see why that should suddenly make a difference.
I did try swapping out the ignition switch behind the key as it was getting a bad reading on testing ,but no go there and in line , I do have a spare neutral safety switch to try swapping out.
Any ideas here, I'm open to suggestions. THis is a real strange one
Thanks
