control arm bushing procedure - why wheels touching in Bentley's 200 1993

Hi All,
Studying up on this for Saturday's repair and the neighbor's press is lined up. In Bentley's it says to jack the car up until the wheels are just touching the ground. Why? this makes it rather hard to get the wheels off I would think. The procedure here for 740 from the FAQ which looks like the same control arm just says jack it up. So was wondering if anybody knows why the Bentley procedure says that.
Thanks in advance
Robb
