1989 240 Bucking/Hesitating Then No Start 2-1-4 Code 200

My dear wife had a bad /dead battery situation today at Wal and by chance we have a Wal battery. The shop guy came out with a portable booster and got the car running , replaced the battery, checked what he could - said all is fine. Wife driving home, calls me telling me the car is hesitating or bucking.
I go out after the car is shutoff to check for codes and get 1-1-1 in socket 2 and 2-1-4 in socket 6 and have a no start situation.
My understanding is that it is the crank position sensor.
Seems odd that immediately after a jump start the CPS fails - or perhaps that's my luck.
CPS resistance check is 263 ohms.
Anyway, went back to try to start the car and it started right up - , backed out and died in road. Further attempts found same issue, hard to start - nearly impossible - then dies when allowed to idle or given gas to accelerate.
Seems to be really variable in how it acts. Starts - won't start, idles - dies at idle - accelerates - dies at acceleration.
Confusing.
Any thoughts please.
Thanks
