Rough running continues. Mechanic unable to find problem so far. He suspects the fuel injection wiring harness but is hesitant to get involved with that.

Can anyone supply me with into on how to troubleshoot and or replace the harness?
I am not afraid to work on it and know it is probably a lot of work but if any of you have experience how to check or troubleshoot please let me know. Thank all of you who have written back and supported me in the past. I have been able to keep my brick running with your help. It is an "89" with only 99,000 mi. on it and I would like to keep it going.
