im having an odd situation. i have a 1992 740 with a 2.3 litre 4 cylinder, and it usually runs at 2500rpm for 60mph. now it's running at 4000rpm for 60mph. everything feels right, sounds right, and smells right. one thing different is that i have a dummy light in the form of an upward pointing arrow. the book says that this means the overdrive is off. i think maybe the tach needle isnt acting right but i could be wrong. i have repeatedly pushed the OD button on the side of the shifter and the light doesn't go off. is this right/wrong? should i leave it alone or get help? its been driving quite well and i don't expect any trouble, but this has me stumped. i would appreciate all and anything people post on this subject, i will be checking back. thank you.
