I've been reading the Haynes '76-'93 manual and the green books on emissions and LH 2.2 and am just not clear on when the AMM operation kicks in.
It seems the throttle plate is closed during idle so the Air Mass Meter (AMM) readings are not at issue. The Idle Air Control (IAC) valve controls air for combustion during idle. Yes the AMM is before the air path to the IAC (?).
Many posts talk of disconnecting the AMM (ignition off) to see if the idle improves or gets worse. Some indicate a worse idle is a bad AMM some say better idle is bad AMM.
Can anyone clarify systems operations that would clear up the overlap of the emissions and LH-Jetronic operations?
