I just replaced my apparently failing Regina fuel pump. The car let me down several times last week and I didn't trust it anymore. I didn't know if it had ever been replaced because the records are incomplete. However, there were several clues that it had.
1. It looked like there was only one original hose clamp, the one at the filler pipe, which just fell apart.
2. The fuel pump was AC, with what looks like a date code "3199". Would an original fuel pump say "Volvo"?
Would I be right the old pump is a replacement?
Interestingly, the replacement pump from FCP Groton came with a pigtail connector I had to solder to the leads while everything I've read so far says you need to solder the leads directly to the terminals on the pump. Hopefully a new pump is what I needed because the old one had twice the resistance of the new one. I'll find out tomorrow if it's a success because I still need a bunch of hose clamps to finish the job.
