Some might remember our intermittent stumbling/stalling issue that has been going on since early August, discussed in my earlier thread:

I have since replaced the throttle switch too. Overall, the problem seems to be getting less frequent - I can go 100-200 sometimes 300 miles between slight, brief stumbles.

Then, last weekend, it had a fairly long episode of stumbling - pressing the gas pedal, there was no response, we stumbled along for two blocks, then the car stalled (it had been stalling at stops 4 times prior that day). Started right up (I never have a re-start problem) and I got home, where I pulled the codes again (it has not given me any codes all these months), and we now have a 1-2-1 air mass meter signal faulty or missing. I guess the problem had finally occurred for a long enough period to throw a code.

I unplugged the AMM connector, it looked clean, reseated it, made sure all was tight. I also tried to run the car without the AMM and the limp home mode is definitely worse then with the AMM plugged in. Car drives fine, actually, except the occasional stumble and sometimes a little sluggish.

This is a "known good" used AMM we installed in September, thinking my old AMM may have been the culprit. The air box thermostat, preheat hose etc have all been removed a long time ago so it's not that the AMMs are getting fried. Before I buy a new AMM (still in doubt that's really it) could this be a connection issue? What's the best way to check this? I was going to get some electrical contact cleaner today for the connectors, and also check the connection at the ECU. What about in-between? Wiring harness? From outside, things look good, but who knows. Any advise is appreciated!
