My '67 122 wagon has a Weber carb. I believe at some point in its relatively recent history it has sat for a couple years. After cleaning the carb and putting a kit in it I tried to follow the Redline idle adjustment instructions. No luck. Throttle stop has to be in farther than 2 turns and the idle mixture screw is no where near 2 turns out. Reading the Haynes Weber Carb Manual they say the mixture screw should be one turn out.... Car idles and runs fine. It does have a little flutter at some point in the transition from Idle to Main circuits.

Is there a better idle adjustment procedeure ? Is this something I should not care about ? If it is a problem, where is the crud that is causing it ?

If it was an Amal, the problem would be the jet behind the mixture screw. Best cleaned by drilling a hole in the backside of the carb and cleaning the inaccesable jet. Plug the hole with a 10-32 (2BA) screw...
