Assuming you're talking about the DGV progressive down draft, the idle mix screw should end up 1-1/2 turns off its seat, plus or minus 1/4. If best idle happens wit the screw further in towards the seat, the primary low speed jet is too large. Further out, that jet is too small.

You cannot adjust the idle mixture properly if the throttle butterfly is open far enough to expose any of the progression circuit holes.
