How to get stuck lifter out of B-20? 140-160 1972

The other seven lifted out with a mechanics magnet, but I got one I can't seem to get out. I can get a hold of it with needle nose pliers and needle nose vise grips but it will only come up about 1" and no further. I can still rotate it with some pressure(turns freely when setting on the cam) Any tricks or ideas that don't involve pulling the pan? Thanks.
