I am making the effort to document a 93/94 instrument cluster swap into a 91/92 car.
I have done this before and posted the procedure (probably two years ago)but it was mostly a verbal description of the changes (and pitfalls) involved.
The 93/94 clusters will swap right to the 91/92 cars but the fuel gauge does not work. The fix is to alter the circuit board on the 93/94 cluster and then add the fuel gauge from the 91/92 cluster to the 93/93 cluster.
The adding of the fuel gauge from the 91/92 has its own problems. There is no need at this time to list all of the changes necessary, but they include having to swap the clock which does not fit quite right, drilling the new cluster, etc.
My question is has anyone used the procedure of adding the 91/92 fuel gauge to the 93/94 cluster and what additional information can you share before I try to document it for inclusion in the FAQ's?
For people looking to solve this problem via another approach I believe it was suggested that the 93/94 cluster would swap and the fuel gauge would work in the 91/92 cars if you also swapped the intank assembly from a 93/94 cars. Can anyone verify that?
Thanks for any additional information.
