Hi everyone! This past Friday, my speedomter/odometer/cruise control quit working. I believe the problem is electrical in nature. The speedo needle is not moving when I'm driving. I replaced the odometer gear last year and everything was working great.

Things I did to test my theory:

1) pulled the cluster and cleaned all the electrical contacts with Caig DeOxit.
2) pulled the speedo sensor wires on the rear differential and cleaned them.
3) ran test leads to the speedo sensor wires and simulated 'speed' with the key turned on in the car. Again, the speedo doesn't move at all.

So now I'm at the point where I imagine capacitors or an IC circuit has gone bad on the speedometer itself.

I'd like to verify this though with a test of the wires that power the speedometer. There are three contacts. Can I hook up a volt meter to the wires to verify power?

Also, I read a write-up about the 7xx/9xx Volvo speedometers, but I have not found instructions for the 2 series speedometers.

Thanks for any help! I want to get it working again so I can keep accurate tally of my mileage. I've been using my iPhone speedometer app while driving to avoid tickets.

I am at work, and this is the best photo I have of my speedo to identify if it's japanese, european, etc... I believe it says K39200 on it. You guys might be able to identify it from the font or whatnot.
