P/S pump pressure valve 700 1990

As I continue '90 Volvo 760GLT steering rack replacement, I've discovered that the pressure hose joining at the p/s pump is cross threaded! The hose's 17mm flare nut is jammed solid into the 22mm hex head of the pressure valve. I've separated the hose from the pump with the head hex frozen on it. It occurred to me that I should just find a hex head or complete valve assembly internals from a PNP donor rather than an entire pump. If this is a functional approach, I would avoid a drive belt pulley change for a replacement pump and avoid spending a lot of money on the replacement pump. I'd still have to get an expensive pressure hose. While at a local PNP, I did just that, pull two valve assemblies, one from an '88 240 and the other from a '90 940. I believe that the pump model serves 200's, 740's and 940's of appropriate year ranges.

So, is swapping out the valve assembly a doable and reliable option? Should I just limit the swap to the hex head?

For the fun of Volvos,
Mike
