I recently replaced the engine mounts and timing belt and a few other maintenance items on the 1994 940 sedan. It's been 600 miles since then and, after adjusting the tension on the timing belt, I looked over and noticed the passenger side engine mount strap was already broken in the middle! The mounts are inexpensive URO brand, but I won't discount their duty this soon. The original Volvo mounts that were replaced had a broken strap in the same position on the same side.
So, since this is the compression side of the motor under acceleration, do I need this strap that normally only limits travel on the expansion of the hydraulic mount? I can see where the driver's side mount would suffer a lot of stress without the strap. Heck, I don't know if I can get another one by itself. Any thoughts?
Again, thanks so much for your time and advice.
