After the engine swap on my 90 740T, I had a near-catastrophic oil loss due to a leaking compression fitting on my oil cooler's engine-side connections.
I made an emergency stop, dumped some oil in, limped to a gas station and got more oil, then proceeded to wrench down on the fittings (mostly the two together, but also the female end into the oil-filter holder) like the hulk.
I still get tiny droplets of oil allll over my car when I drive on the highway now, which I can only assume is due to a pinhole in a hose or a tiny bit of leaking from the fittings.
So, what should I do? These lines (including the male fittings, if I remember right) were pulled off another 740T. The female fittings were not.
Should I:
A) Anneal the fittings (after thoroughly cleaning them) and hope it helps?
B) Replace the lines (the napa near me may be able to make me new ones because they make hydraulic hoses)
C) Get a used matched pair of fittings and lines (and oil cooler??) from a junkyard?
I'm tired of losing oil, but more tired of having oil droplets all over my car and windows.
Cheers
PS I'm grumpy because I have to go do a water pump seal... meh. I dislike working on coolant systems.
