I replaced my front rotors and pads today. The job was overdue. I have never done the front brakes, but I did the rear brakes last year without any problems.
The job went smoothly. I used brembo rotors and bosch quietcast pads. I cleaned the parts with brake cleaner and applied silicone grease to the back of the pads and contact points, per the FAQ instructions. the only challenge was getting the piston pushed back in, which I accomplished by clamping the line and opening the bleeder before pushing gently with a 2x4.
I torqued the lugs up to 66 ft-lbs and followed a bed in procedure (60-30 ten times without coming to a complete stop).
Things seemed to be working properly until I got to a parking lot. When I start driving from a stop and turn sharply there is an immediate pulse from the front end. It doesn't last long. If I brake and then turn it pulses again. I'm guessing that I've done something wrong.
Suggestions? Could I have warped the rotors? I tried to clean the hub surface with a wire brush but I couldn't get it shiny clean. Is this a potential problem, or as a little vibration normal with new pads and rotors?
thanks.
