76 245 with flap lifted fuel pump on great fuel delivery, great spark, but will not run when it is all hooked up 200

so I took the boot off and stuck a screw driver to hold up that plate that activates the fuel distributor, pulled one injector and with key on and pumps running there was a strong spay pattern from that injector, there is also great spark when I pulled a plug and grounded it our on the manifold....but when I put it all back together it will not run or stay running for any length of time. the previous owner could only keep it running at high rpms and then it deteriorated to the point of selling it.
