hi sages- read the thread on the difficulty of finding or getting made a volvo 93 240 ac hose. provoked me to ask a series of questions about the volvo ac. my 92 245 wagon is in excellent condition except for the ac. as a baby boomer member i grew up without ac(remember 60- 4 ac?) so i never got used to it. while it is nice, especially here in se fla summers, lack of it never stopped me from buying an otherwise good car i liked. my 92 ac worked for one week after i bought it two years ago and blows hot.prior owner probably charged it with r 134 without fixing the leak. figured it is leaking somewhere and didnt want to invest the $1k i guesstimate it would cost to fix. dont really miss it. however here is what i have concluded . i invite all volvo ac sages to comment: 1. volvo ac is less reliable and weaker than other acs although all are problematic and expensive to fix, but the 89-93 models were somewhat improved.2. repair parts are hard to find and expensive. 3. wondering about retrofitting a dead volvo ac with easier to find american car ac parts: delco and chrysler seem to have a better rep. thanks tons for your insight. oldduke
