93 940 No Start (moved here to new thread) 900

sudden no start on my 93 940 (regina). Started rough 24hrs prior in heavy rain I assumed wetness in system but it smoothed out and got me to work fine (I did dump WD-40 on coil pack, wires and distributor cap at that time.

The next morning I started it up at work and drove home with no issues (I work a 24hr shift if you are confused). Later that morning I tried to start the car and it just spins but no fire. I smell gas from the bay and the #1 plug smells heavy of fuel. Ether introduced into the throttle body had no results. Reading this thread seemed to point heavy towards the coil unit. Replaced that with new from NAPA and no joy. The CPS, dist cap, rotor, plug wires are new within the year, 1 knock sensor was also replaced within the year. I have to not done anything yet with a multi meter. Thoughts as to direction to proceed?

Replies so far on another thread have been;

" May wanna start a new thread. But have you checked for spark? Check for spark by pulling one spark plug wire, connecting it to a spare spark plug, hold the plug threads on the engine block and have someone try to start the engine. Look for spark, then post result in new thread.""

"I would agree, posting a new thread makes this issue easier for all to see, but it did come up as a new post for me as I assume for others.

""If you are getting fuel pump turn-on, then several things are working:

Crank sensor
Fuel Pump Relay
Fuel pump
Injectors

So you are either losing spark because your distributor cap is filthy (oiled, wet, corroded, or broken) or you are not making spark in the first place, at the coil.

This car has the Regina coil cube right? They are long lived but I replaced one this last year, after 320K miles, in a 1990. Just quit one day with your same symptoms.

Pull the coil wire with it's weird clip off the bottom of the dist cap, place it next to the hood hinge or somewhere metal, and crank engine and observe for spark. No spark from coil wire, I think you've found it.""
