I have a chance to buy an 1985 DL sedan with 36K original miles. The car looks and drives superbly, but does need its 30K service. I figure this might be the last Volvo I'll ever need to buy.
My question is whether I should expect any trouble getting parts to maintain this car. With the changes in ownership of Volvo I don't expect to be able to get parts from Volvo, but what about the aftermarket? Anything I need to worry about?
My thinking is that I'll need to budget at least $1000 to get the car where I want it (I don't do any of my own work) - start with the 30K service, but also make sure all the fluids are changed, brake fluid, coolant, tranny flushed, auto steering fluid, maybe even the rear end. What do you think?
Any comments or counsel will be appreciated.
