MAF Sensor spray 200

About a week ago I posted in regard to performance issues with my '88 245. I had some idea that it all stemmed from the air flow sensor, but wanted opinions from other Brickboard members.

I got some good responses, one of which suggested cleaning the sensor with MAF Sensor spray. Now, over the years I have tried a number of "chemical solutions" for various problems, and have always been disappointed in the outcomes. Nonetheless, I was intrigued by the reviews I read for CRC brand MAF Sensor Cleaner Spray and optimistically bought a can. "It's only $8, and if it revives my AMM I could save a chunk of money in the balance."

Well, it seems to have worked! I can hardly believe that I finally got results from a "quick fix" product, but it helped tremendously and would recommend it to others who face a possible AMM replacement. Throttle response is way better, MPG is up, and smooth running has been restored. I still think the car could benefit from a new O2 sensor, but for eight bucks I am plenty happy for now.
