88 240 wagon rear latch stuck and dinger will not stop! 200 1988

First time on here and first time. 240 owner! I just changed the fuel pump and fuel pump relay and car now starts up and runs. Since then the dinger won't stop dinging and now I just noticed the rear tailgate latch is stuck closed so the gate will not shut completely. I noticed it was not closing all the way and hard to open so I pushed the latch manually closed now it will not open :( please help and thank you!
