Swede Finnish... 120-130 1967

Hello All:

1967 Volvo 122S wagon. I am going to be disassembling a fair amount of the front suspension this weekend (and the rear end in October) and I want to hit the frame with an angle grinder, clean up the rust and then seal it all with something that is effective while also honoring some sort of period finish. Any suggestions?

I am planning to spray the suspension arms, etc. with black Krylon. I would love to do something with the other bits such as fasteners, etc. I know some people have used a clear varnish on these kinds of parts. Do you all recommend that? If not, what should I use?

Basically I am asking about finishes for three kinds of items:

1) The frame
2) The control arms and other giant metal appendages
3) Fasteners, bolts, etc.

Any advice would be much appreciated gang.

Cheers,

Pooch
