Hello,
Just did a timing belt job yesterday, and I noticed that the indicator mark on the main crankshaft resonator hub (and the corresponding keyhole on the crankshaft sprocket) pointed towards the 15 degrees advanced forward of zero.
Does anyone know if this is a good setting for a 240 engine ? I reinstalled the new belt the same as the old one, since that's the way i've been running for the last 6 years. But it's having trouble starting since I've done the job, it sputters a bit and throws up a check engine light while it takes 10 seconds to sort out the rough idle and find a good rhythm again.
I wondered if I should have put it back on the zero mark.
For those who have done timing belt changes on their 240's .. where degree is your engine set to and why ? Should I tear it apart and fiddle with the timing a bit or just leave it at 15 degrees ?
thanks,
Jonathan
