Introduction and "help' 900 1993

First post. Thank you for this being here. I've been reading along and gaining info as I go. I'm in Arizona and my 17 year old daughter is the proud owner of a 1993 960. Depending on what part one is looking at, it's a 1993 or 1994, sometimes a 1995 and is white or tan. The VIN says it's 1993. The car was *given* to me by a long time friend as a first time car for my (and my wife's :-) daughter.

I'm an electrical engineer that likes to get my hands dirty on cars.... Our newest car is a 250,000 mile 1995 Isuzu Trooper and I've done everything except automatic transmissions (never had one before)and heavy duty body work.

Dear Daughter recently disassembled the front of her car on the bumper of the car in front of her. The Volvo front bumper slid under the victim car's rear bumper, so the damage to the other car was minimal, no one was hurt and our liability insurance is taking care of the other car. The Volvo has lots of broken plastic and bent sheet metal.

I've been making lemonade out of the lemons and have had my daughter doing the repair work. I feel her knowing how to handle tools and use her mind to figure things out....is extremely important and this was the perfect opportunity for this. I'm there showing her just enough of the procedure to get started, letting her practice on the pull the parts yourself junkyard cars acquiring the needed parts, watching to make sure she's on the right track and letting her do the work. So far the hardest thing for me is to watch her do it and not "jump in". She's replaced a section of the left inner fender and the upright that holds the (American) driver side hood latch along with the outer fenders.

Anyway, since I didn't take the front stuff apart, and with most of the junkyard Volvos being "molested" to the point of not being useful as a how it goes together example, we are having a hard time getting all the pieces to fit..

I haven't found any exploded diagrams that show how all the small pieces--brackets, clips, rubber pieces and so forth--all go together, nor anything that shows how the hoses and wires route.

Is there, for purchase, or free on line, diagrams that show this information? If so, where? We are managing, but it's slow and we're never sure if we have it the way it should be.

The other question.....For front lighting, this Volvo has (had?) the two distinct fog/headlight sections. None of the junkyard cars have that lighting arrangement. Is it possible to switch to the other (single outer lens) front light arrangement...especially since all the external "up front stuff" will be replaced?????

I'd bring a set of the "other" lighting stuff home and give it a try, but I'd just as soon not waste the money buying stuff that won't work.

Thanks.
