Took out my trusty, vintage Peerless Timing Light that I bought new maybe 35 years ago. Never failed until now and since I'm just a sentimental fool I decided to ship it down to Florida where a guy i found on line fixes them. He got it and said just needs some soldering to tighten up the connections. Funny because when I openned up the case everything seemed well soldered, intact and very clean. But okay I'm no expert, so it gets "repaired' and shipped back to me. $67 into it now. Go to use it AND IT DOESN'T WORK. A few emails back and forth and it's "send it back, probably a diode $12, maybe I can save you some money on labor ratatatata rat". Okay so now another $12 to send it and another $12 to get her back and $12 for at least one part and labor unknown. And no, sorry gee maybe I f---ked up or anything of that nature.
Well I've been to this movie, think I'll just buy a new one or a good used one. Big price range from really cheap at Harbor Frieght to really expensive at Snap On. Any suggestions as to the one to get. Lots of brands too. My grandson got a HF light that was mis priced for $15. Seems to work except dial at rear of light moves around on it's own.
