Hope you're well. Stopped car briefly. Wouldn't re-start: all instrument panel lights "on"; battery good and cables corrosion-free. Moved shift lever to neutral a few times. Still no start. Got a tow. Next day, started fine.

Is this problem caused by failure of the micro-switch mounted on shifter housing's outside wall (passenger side), towards the top (closest to the gear-selector cover) and towards the front of the shifter housing (the tranny's "park" postion)?

This microswitch is secured by two inside-toothed washers, pressed on to plastic posts, that protrude from the shifter housing's outside wall. Two black wires go to this micro-switch. One wire goes to the shifter's harness. The second goes inside the shifter housing. These two wires are soldered to micro-switch contacts. The micro-switch's arm points downwards, i.e., towards the car's floorpan.

In the FAQs - under starting problems - there's a reference to "no start" condition caused by an out-of-adjustment "rod" near the transmission, accessible underneath the car. However, there's no description of the rod or its precise location. While I've changed tranny shifter linkage bushings, I don't recall seeing any adjustable rod in that area.

Can anyone describe this rod precisely, if this rod likely relates to the "no start" condition.
