iac controller 900 1993

hi,
just after a few opinions on idle air controller characteristics

timeline as follows:
bought UK 940 2.0 turbo manual shift in 2008, soon noticed it started intermittently cutting out if coming up to traffic lights with moderate breaking or any situation where sudden slowdown and dipping the clutch was required.

suspected iac controller and bought an aftermarket cheapie to replace the bosch unit.

problem went away for a while but startup ticker was never really fantastic compared to the bosch.

started cleaning the removed unit every few months being careful not to drown the electric bit with carb cleaner. Over several years the cleans were needed more and more regularly until a couple of months ago I splashed out again on a Lowe unit from Berlin.

The Lowe is great, very good ticker but very occasionally it behaves like the old bosch unit did. Especially noticeable when coming off the motorway and having to slow down for traffic lights. Strangely it plays up a bit more when the motor's hot than when it's cold. I keep the old iac in the back just in case, with the spare fuel pump relay, and the shortcut pipe in case the heater matrix blows etc etc. What a fantastic rebuildable car!

Does anyone think I'm missing a trick here? Is there some other guilty party like the MAF sensor which could be involved. Most interested in your opinions gentlemen . . .
