Ok, so my crane xr700 ignition module is overheatīng and I need to install a ballast resistor (mallory 29440 coil doesn't have one internally). The coil isn't getting hot, but the XR700 is on fire. All the wiring diagrams I've found show to put the resistor in between the "run" wire of the switch and the coil, but My 122 only has One wire coming out (armored coil has been cut). I can splice it into this wire, but will I be creating trouble starting? It seems to me that reducing voltage at start up would be counter-productive....
Anybody using a crane fireball with ballast resistor like this?
Thanks!
