My 1990 Volvo 740, in excellent condition, experienced an unprovoked/unwanted airbag deployment, putting me in the emergency room (03/16). I am still receiving medical care for my injury. No accident or bump in the road caused this occurance. Upon inspection by a Volvo technician, at a Volvo dealership, Volvo simply states that the cause was from moisture/corrosion on the outside housing of the SRS sensor, under the driver's seat (invisible to vehicle operator). Moisture over the course of past 26 years (snowy boots, rain from forgotten open window or sunroof) is said to have contributed to the airbag exploding and injuring me. Volvo says "Not Their Problem" and refuses to assist me in any way! They say the problem was caused by the SRS devise and therefore the manufacturer of that device is who's responsible. I disagree and would like input from other BrickBoard members. Bottom line is, this indicates that any Volvo airbag system could deploy at any time with an old Volvo! I don't want to see other Volvo automobile enthusiasts injured like I was. Please assist me in ensuring that Volvo takes propper responsibly on this issue. Thank you.
