Hello,
I have a 1990 Volvo 240 sedan , 220k miles.
It is again overheating ( on gauge) this hot summer, even on cool days.
It used to cool down while moving at faster speeds, used to cool down with the heat (ouch)
on, but recently nothing brings it down while running.
I recently replaced the battery and alternator.
Mechanics can't seem to diagnose...I mentioned fan clutch, they have said no.
Fan is engaged even at idle speed.
Any advice? I have had this as my only car for 16 years. I want to keep this car, but problems are getting expensive. Neither can I afford a newer used car. Friends and family think I'm nuts to keep it.
Another question: if I run the car into the overheat zone, is it very likely that I will warp an engine gasket? Is the engine made of steel?
Thanks for advise!
