the old intermittent temp gage trick 92 245 200

hello my brutha sages- have heard discussions about this on earlier threads on the board.my 245 runs like one helluva mutha with only two aggravations. with the cooler weather having arrived in se fla im back to running it as my regular car. been hot as a pistol in fl since may but now cooler. my temp gage needle stays at the bottom on start up and during a run all day, but once in a while it will work.most tanks have a wire from a screw in sender in the head, but i understand the 240 has a temp board in the dash to which the wire from the sender connects , then to the gage. what does intermittent operation tell you. when working, the gage needle after a few miles goes to about 1/2 way. sure dealer would charge +$1500 to fix this. dont feel comfortable without temp data on engine when on a dark desert highway near stinking creek. uncle moe says just intall a stewart warner afer market temp gage on the dash and wire it to the sending unit like he did with his 56 ford. item # 2 who would be best to go to to find and correct a leak onto the passenger front floor when it rains( body and fender, glazier, etc.)? my efforts thereto have failed. thanks tons oldduke
