1982 245 GL back up lights not working 200

Mechanic who did the clutch tells me he thinks he checked the switch and it was fine, that it's in the wiring?
He might also have checked the OD lock out switch on 4th. :(

Car has 206K miles, one family owned. Did have bodywork (major rust repair) recently. No history on when they stopped working.
