I just got my 940 turbo wagon back from the mechanic for a coolant leak...and she told me it's my head gasket. A couple of questions on my mind now:
1. Is it worth repairing? She gave me a rough quote of $1000-1500. It's a 1994, very solid body with no rust, had one owner before me who took extremely good care of it. I've had it for about 6 months and haven't found any other problems with it (other than #3). I live in Vermont so a rust-free car from 1994 is basically a miracle. I paid $750 for it 6 months ago and then spent $1000 on brakes, brake line, and tie rods.
2. I've found head gasket repair fluid online for $90--has anyone tried this stuff? Does it work?
3. My heat has also been working very poorly. Is this related to the head gasket issue or something else? Since it's gotten cold here the heat doesn't get warm enough to melt the ice on my windshield after warming up for 20 mins in the driveway and then driving ~7 minutes to work.
Thanks for any insight or shared experience!
