Dash vent blower cuts out under throttle 900

We have a 1991 945T, overall runs great, but under throttle accelerating the vent blower cuts out. I am assuming there is a vacuum leak somewhere so the directional controls cut the air flow.
With these symptoms is there a good place I can start looking for the source of the problem?
