Would appreciate some suggestions on the following problem.
My '93 945T (recently purchased w/56K) seems to idle a bit roughly and occassionally loses RPM quite dramaticaly when the car is at a standstill -- say going from 800 down to 500 RPM. The car doesn't actually stall, but it got close this weekend during a stop at a traffice light. At this particular stop, the idle dropped 3X, each time returning to normal. During these "hiccups," the turbo gage jumps -- with the jumps exactly coinciding with the change in RPM. There seems to be no trouble when the car is underway. In fact, it drives beautifully.
It seems like an ignition problem, but I suppose could also be a faulty injector. I suppose safe bet would be to change the distributor cap and rotor as a start, though my expertise (such as it is) has only ever been practiced on 60s (142) 70s (P-1800E, 144) and 80s (245) -era Volvos.
Any suggestions for tracing a fault like the one I'm experiencing?
