Battery troubles and Radio lock-out 900 1997

My battery died in a just-purchased 97 960, and needed to be jump started. When the car was restarted, the radio has gone into the theft-deterent mode, requesting me to enter a code. I tried a few obvious things, and it gave me "EEE" a few times, but now it is permanent set to "OFF".

How can I reset the radio? And does anyone have recommendation on a good replacement battery?
