oil pressure sender 200 1983

Want to troubleshoot the oil pressure sender/gauge system. Is the sender unit the one mounted just above the alternator? (The one that has 2 spades connectors on it.The car is a 245 Turbo). If it is, is has a green and a black wire hooked to it. What happens if there is an open circuit between these two wires? (the gauge goes all the way across as the ignition is turned on). Thanks for any replies.
